What a flawless subject, seriously…flawless.  Not many are lucky enough to have this type of beauty.  Thank you Kara for allowing me to take your senior portraits!  It was really fun getting to meet you and your family, also your beautiful horse.  The pasture near your grandmother’s home, so beautiful and so glad we started your senior session there.  Speaking of your grandmother, uh..stunning!  I see where you and your mom get it…good genes being passed down generation to generation!

Thank you Crystal for helping and being so supportive during the shoot!  Tell you man he did a good job on your guys quick family portraits!!!!  I really liked them, decided not to post here since this blog post is all about Kara and her senior portraits! 🙂

Kara, I wish you the very best in life!  Sounds like you have your future all planned out and will be very successful!

Oh my goodness, this field is beyond perfection.  Seriously, we walked back there and there were like 30 to 40 black butterflies just enjoying the sweet pollen of the star thistle plants.  I would say this meadow is my all time favorite now.  However, I think it was just a good year for it with all the rain we had!  I will have to go back next year around that time to see!!!!  You should of seen the kids enjoy the butterflies!  It was actually magical!

Thank you so much you guys for letting me take your portraits!  This was a special shoot since Krystal is a mother of two and happens to work for the company Dignity Health.  I have been fortunate enough to be allowed to work on a few of Dignity’s campaigns!  Including this one, their Mothers of Dignity Campaign for Mothers Day.  I haven’t shared much of this yet, just because I have been busy and not blogging!

With the Mothers Day Campaign image taken with Krystal and her two lovely children, we decided to take a few others for fun on our own, and that is what I am sharing below.  How could I not resist taking a few pictures with a gorgeous family in a magical butterfly filled meadow…just can’t!  It was so fun, thanks again West Family!

Also, a little update… currently I have a billboard up on East Cypress near the old Raley’s for Dignity Health’s Ortho department!  Both sides and it is huge!  Really, I should go take a picture of it, since it is a big deal for me…first billboard!  You can watch my little video over on IG if you want HERE to see it!

Anyhow, I am so extremely grateful for the amazing people in the marketing department over at Dignity who gave me a chance, and you guys know who you are! (Amy and Monique)  Really, this is getting me closer to my end goals with photography.  Not that I want to give up the portraits that I do weekly, which I do love.  Commercial and eventually fashion photography is where I would like to be in the future after my littles have left the nest!  So, thank you ladies and Dignity Health for helping another mother get to fulfill her dreams.  To see the image Dignity Health chose, please scroll to the bottom of this post!

Human Kindness. 🙂

Jamie

Oh my goodness, seriously perfect little angel.  This meadow is a new discovery, and I am thrilled to show these cute little images off!  Thank you so much Nick and Marisa for letting me take pictures of little Ava.  Love the custom head pieces?  Check out Heavenly Avonlee Couture to get your own.  This is such a fun age to photograph, especially in a field like this.

How cute is her little concentration tongue! lol!  The little things that we sometimes forget as our children grow up, which is why pictures…any pictures are so wonderful.  Must freeze that moment in time to treasure and look back on forever.

I do own two of these dresses and all the hair pieces if you decide you would like to create something like this with your little one. Of course, you could also have Cambria the artist who makes these bands create a one of a kind just for you too.

Oh, how I miss spring already!

Jamie

Okay, yes…I am weird.

I do have a weird obsession with creepy clowns.

Yes, took my family to the park in Mt. Shasta and happened to have my lights with me and decided to play for a few mins.

Tutorial:

I played with my off camera lighting system by Elinchrom Quadra around sunset.  I tried lighting the clown using Ghost Lighting, Split Lighting, Short Lighting, Rim Lighting, and Broad Lighting.  I then tried changing my shutter speeds from super fast to let in hardly any ambient light to super slow to soak in the ambient light.  I also shook my camera with slow shutter to cause the trees blur out, along with zooming in and out during the long shutter speed as my camera was on a tripod to create a double face of different sizes.  Then I fogged up my lens with my breath to kinda try and make a eery effect, had to set focus first, since I couldn’t see anything once I huffed on the lens.  I also used all my different lenses I had with me to see the different distortions  So, all effects besides the color were done in camera, not Photoshop.  Fun test.

Kendra, OMG, so stinking cute!  Eisla is beyond adorable, those eyes…those perfect lips!  Gorgeous!  Thank you for playing a little dress up in the studio the other day for her first birthday!  Great job bringing all the cute outfits!  They looked so great with Heavenly Avonlee’s headpieces on her!  Also, we have to mention little Mr. Easton, what a cutie and such a sweet child.  Really enjoyed having him in the studio as well for some portraits really fast.  He even allowed us to put on one of Gold Coast Goods adorable little man ties!  These are the little details I feel that make the styling that much more perfect!  Also, in the background I did use some of Dark Pony Designs tulle skirts as the backdrop.  Thank you to all the other creatives who have let me use their creations in the studio!

Can’t wait for our Fall session together in a meadow with more room to run! lol!  Though, I think it went pretty well in the studio…just they kept us on our toes, which is good! lol!

Marsha, thank you so much for allowing me to show off your 65 birthday boudoir portraits!  I am beyond excited to share!  Seriously, you are radiant an absolute beauty inside and out.  I enjoyed all of our conversation and feel like I am a better person for having met you.  Thank you also for sharing the quote, “If the photographer is interested in the people in front of her lens, and if she is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer.”  You are so sweet to of shared this with me along with the Dutch!

Loved your images, so many to choose from.  I picked the more PG versions to share! 🙂  I think my fave shot might be of your bootie, when you were on the red vintage couch of mine in the studio.  That was 100% your pose and totally you!  Might be tied with the amber lit one of your face…so beautiful.  Your hair and makeup was created by the talented Niki Gibson.  She always does such a great job, just the right amount and sexy feel.

My goal with my boudoir sessions is to make a monthly trip to San Francisco and create these images in the city.  If you happen to not want to make the drive like Marsha did, please contact me to arrange for me to take a quick jaunt to the city.  Plus, I wouldn’t mind getting a gorgeous room and spending time with my husband in the Mission District!

If you are thinking you might want to do a boudoir session, but a little apprehensive…take a moment to check out my boudoir site, link below.  I spent a lot of time writing up all I could possibly think of that you would want to know.  Pretty much just thought how I would feel about taking these portraits myself and all the questions I would have related to boudoir pictures.

Jamie

Thanks so much you guys for letting me take Kyle’s senior portraits downtown Redding.  Super glad we had dad with us, just because downtown is getting a bit rougher…well, ALL of Redding is to tell you the truth.  Anyhow, it was a super great way to spend the evening with you guys.

Love the white T-shirt shots, gotta say…he was right!  Very Alex Turner like!  Let me know if you ever want to try a shoot similar to that link, I would be so excited!  Thanks to the blue hotel on the side for allowing us to use their parking lot for a few shots too!

Hope you have a great rest of your senior year!

Such a gorgeous family, and the color coordination for their outfits were spot on!  Nice work Michelle!  Thank you Jim and Michelle for allowing me to take your family portraits near the Turtle Bay Arboretum in Redding, CA.  We were the very last people to get to play in the tall grasses before the McConnel Foundation mowed it down for the summer.  Loved all your images!  Here are the ones you selected to hang on your walls at home.

It is absolutly crazy how quickly time passes!  I met Sara when she was in the 8th grade, I think.  She was actually one of the very first people I got to practice my photography with, outside of my family.  Thank you so much Renee and Sara for supporting me through this crazy journey! I always love the time we spend together during our shoots each year!

Sara, holy cow…can’t believe you are graduating and planning on becoming a dentist!  That is so amazing!  I hope you enjoy this last little bit of your senior year in high school!  As you know, you are stunning!  Also, a super great model!  Thank you for choosing me to take your senior portraits!

If you would like to view my portrait portfolio you can do so HERE.  Or if you would like to see my most recent work via my blog, you can do that HERE.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.  Please be sure to click the ‘Read the rest of the story’ below to see all of her images.
