Each year I am fortunate to have a few seniors make the long journey from Alturas, CA to Redding, CA for their senior portraits!  Haley, Kim, and Charlie thank you so much for making the trip!  Also, thank you for letting us do the shoot on Friday instead of Sunday as we had originally planned.  It worked really well, considering I was up with friends all night for my good friend, CJ’s 40th birthday party. lol.

Anyhow, Haley…you remind me so much of my sister, must be the hair and hippie vibe you had going on.  Loved your look and your super sweet personality.  Kya and I both enjoyed our time out in the fields with your girlies!

Love the pink lace romper you picked up the day of the shoot over at PacSun!  So stinking cute!  I want it! lol!  Also, loved that you had several outfits to choose from!  Something I am noticing too, thought I would point out if anybody is reading this!  People who book for meadow shoots don’t really need to worry too much about shoes.  Most of the time your feet are hidden by the tall weeds.  Best bet would be to bring a pair of boots for the dry grasses!  However, a cute pair of shoes could be brought and we can shoot in a flattened spot of weeds.

Oh, last shot was shot by Kya Solorio!  I through her into shooting after the shoot had ended.  Just set the exposure for her and asked her to create a image.  She did great, one of my faves of the day.

Wish you the very best during your last year of high school!

xoxo,

Jamie

Uh….love love love this session!  Thank you soooo very much Jessica and Coral for taking the trip from Junction City, Ca for our maternity session together!  Also, special thanks to your nannie, Madeline for helping keep track of little Coral and flipping dresses up to get that dreamy look!  We made it through the heat, with the help of some rice paper!  These little papers really did the trick in Redding’s heat!  She was able to dab away any shine and/or moisture without removing all her make up!  I am so going to recommend this to all my clients for now on!  All clients…think of family portraits, senior portraits, weddings, you name it in this Redding heat…it is nuts!  Tissues just get white fuzz all over your face and these little rice papers are the ANSWER! lol!

So, I am now in love with these dresses that Jessica brought to our session!  She bought them over at TAoPan online!  I am definitely going to purchase one for my next maternity session! 🙂  The gowns looked so gorgeous on her!  She also used one of my my friend, Cambria’s creations from Heavenly Avonlee Couture of Etsy, the little floral belt with tutu portrait.  Just incase a mother to be sees one of these portraits and wants to create the same look for her shoot!

Can’t wait to hang out again Jessica, this time with your camera in hand!  It is so great to meet somebody who loves photography as much as I do! 🙂  Anytime you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask!  That also goes for anybody out there!  If I have time, I have nothing to hide!  I want to share with anybody with a passion for photography!  When I first began my photography adventure, I remember asking the best in town…Heather Armstrong a question, which was really scary for me because she is THAT good!  Anyhow, Heather was kind enough to invite me into her home and answer my question!  I want to be like that for others, and not to mention…I love to share with other creatives!  Thank you again, Heather!

Okay, thanks again Jessica for being so gosh darn gorgeous and sweet!

Just love when I get to spend time with Cambria, Avonlee, and little Eden…they are all so sweet and gorgeous to boot!  Who says that…I guess I do.  Anyhow, thank you so much Cambria for allowing me to take pictures of your angels!  Love your artistic touches and perfect stylized shoot!  If anybody who happens to read this little blog of mine wants a handcrafted piece that is featured here, please take a moment to check out Heavenly Avonlee Coutore over at Etsy.

The dress were purchased from an Australian creator by the name of Dollcake.  Which paired up with Cambria’s designs is absolutely perfect!  I love it when people go out and stylize their shoots with me!  LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Until next time!  However, if you would like to see another shoot featuring Heavenly Avonlee Couture, please take a look over HERE.  Plus, there is still another spring look that I need to blog!  TIME…I need more of it! 🙂

Thank you Ashley for letting me take your senior portraits!  Loved your idea of a magical and playful meadow with your best friend, Carly.  Your dress…perfect for this look…LOVE.  The finishing touches were the gorgeous fresh flower crown wreathes that Ashley of The Flower Pot created for you.  Stunning!  Had so much fun getting to shoot at a few new locations, I think we hit up four different spots!

Enjoy your senior year, you deserve so much in life!  You are beyond sweet and I adore you!  Stay on the right path, which I have no doubt that you will!

Thought I would use this GORGEOUS girl as an example of the subtle difference “chin out and down” can create in a photograph.  During our photo shoot you will hear me constantly saying, “chin out and down.”  This is CRITICAL for you to really consider as I take your portrait.  There are multiple reasons I ask people to put their, “chin out and down” {“COAD”}.  For one, doing this your eyes will appear larger, this is because your eyes now are closer to the camera and whatever is closer to the camera will appear larger!  Bigger eyes is always a good thing!  Another reason I am all about “COAD” is this makes our neck look better as well, by defining the jaw line.  Now, Alley is young and beautiful, so it is pretty much impossible to have her look bad!  However, the older we get…the older we look in the neck area!  Also, if we have extra weight on us, “COAD” will help there too!  And lastly, I shoot from a low perspective sometimes, well a lot of the time and if you do not lean towards me with a little “COAD” you will look like you have a big belly and itty bitty tick head!

Thanks Alley for letting me use your stunning face for an example!

If you do not have an Iphone, this might take a second to load, so let it load for about 5 seconds and you should see the animation…sorry!

xoxo,

Jamie

Sarah, you are beyond stunning inside and out!  I am so excited about your passion for photography and poetry!  You make a great model as well!  Can’t wait to post more!

To all my seniors out there thinking of scheduling a Senior Portrait session with me:

It always pays off to have your hair and make up done professionally, I happen to work with several great artists!  Nikki Gibson created Sarah’s look below and is amazing!  Other talented make up artists are Brittany Baer, Chelsea Weld, Tricia Davidge, there is always hitting up the counters at the mall too.

Lots of outfit changes are important I feel…I set no limit on outfits.  I do this because I want to try to match the scenery to your outfit, plus I get bored super easy…so more is better.

I also love to hit up several locations with my Senior Portrait sessions, so be thinking of fun places you might want me to capture you in.  Sarah, the senior below, is into poetry and reading, so I thought it would be fun to check out the public library.  Hey, Sarah…you should look up Watsky...crazy masterful poet and musician.  Listening to his All You Can Do album right NOW…he makes me a better person.

The more vested you are in your session, the more you will love your images and inspire me along the way!  Always a good thing to inspire your photographer.
