I was fortunate to be contacted by Dream Platinum a few weeks ago for some beauty portraits in my home studio.  Craig, Angeli, and Jamie collaborated with Marilyn of Simply Elegant Bridal Boutique and myself to create some portraits for the Bridal Show that took place this last weekend.

Uh….love love love this session!  Thank you soooo very much Jessica and Coral for taking the trip from Junction City, Ca for our maternity session together!  Also, special thanks to your nannie, Madeline for helping keep track of little Coral and flipping dresses up to get that dreamy look!  We made it through the heat, with the help of some rice paper!  These little papers really did the trick in Redding’s heat!  She was able to dab away any shine and/or moisture without removing all her make up!  I am so going to recommend this to all my clients for now on!  All clients…think of family portraits, senior portraits, weddings, you name it in this Redding heat…it is nuts!  Tissues just get white fuzz all over your face and these little rice papers are the ANSWER! lol!

So, I am now in love with these dresses that Jessica brought to our session!  She bought them over at TAoPan online!  I am definitely going to purchase one for my next maternity session! 🙂  The gowns looked so gorgeous on her!  She also used one of my my friend, Cambria’s creations from Heavenly Avonlee Couture of Etsy, the little floral belt with tutu portrait.  Just incase a mother to be sees one of these portraits and wants to create the same look for her shoot!

Can’t wait to hang out again Jessica, this time with your camera in hand!  It is so great to meet somebody who loves photography as much as I do! 🙂  Anytime you have any questions at all, please feel free to ask!  That also goes for anybody out there!  If I have time, I have nothing to hide!  I want to share with anybody with a passion for photography!  When I first began my photography adventure, I remember asking the best in town…Heather Armstrong a question, which was really scary for me because she is THAT good!  Anyhow, Heather was kind enough to invite me into her home and answer my question!  I want to be like that for others, and not to mention…I love to share with other creatives!  Thank you again, Heather!

Okay, thanks again Jessica for being so gosh darn gorgeous and sweet!

Ashley of The Flower Pot messaged me today to see if I was available for a quick flower shoot tonight!  I happened to be, so we met up in the studio and played around for a little bit!  Loved her beautiful bouquets for her Palo Cedro bride, Shiree and her bridesmaids.  Shiree’s bridal bouquet is the white bouquet first featured in this post.  While her bridesmaids and below in pink.  The flowers she used to create such stunning works were dahlias, peonies, lisianthus, star of Bethlehem, dusty miller and spray roses.

Thanks Ashley for popping by!  Enjoy the wedding tomorrow!

Last of the sets created for the Boudoir collaboration created by myself, Robin Fator of Dark Pony Designs, Nikki Gibson talented makeup and hair stylist, and with the help from Sara came together to create our model, Krystal’s look!  I thought it would be fun to create a few different looks for brides, since right now a big trend for brides is to give their husband to be a little something special on their wedding day!  To see the other bridal set, please check out Something Sweet for yourself.

This set is inspired by luxury and excess.  The pampered bride in her honeymoon boudoir.  The nude Demi bra is embellished in vintage rhinestone appliqués, paired with high waisted ivory briefs, and a handmade ivory mini tutu with sash.  As much fun to wear as it is to take off!  Styled by Robin Fator, shoes and accessories: Designers own lingerie: Dark Pony Designs to shop the collection visit her Etsy shop.

To create this look I used my Elinchrom with a 6ft Soft box with just the modeling light on to cast soft light on my model!  I also used the ambient light in the room created by the crystal filled chandelier, and all the beautiful candles lit by the custom built fire place.

Thank you everybody for your generous efforts to create this Bridal Boudoir scene! Can’t wait to work with all of you soon, can we really call it work??? lol! To view other scenes created please check out The Girly Show8mmParisian Ballet and Something Sweet.

Thank you Ashley for letting me take your senior portraits!  Loved your idea of a magical and playful meadow with your best friend, Carly.  Your dress…perfect for this look…LOVE.  The finishing touches were the gorgeous fresh flower crown wreathes that Ashley of The Flower Pot created for you.  Stunning!  Had so much fun getting to shoot at a few new locations, I think we hit up four different spots!

Enjoy your senior year, you deserve so much in life!  You are beyond sweet and I adore you!  Stay on the right path, which I have no doubt that you will!

What a beautiful rehearsal put on by Gwen of Weddings with Gwen, Evan and Kaitie’s wedding coordinator.  The venue, gorgeous and perfectly manicured, was located at The White House of Anderson, CA.  Thank you so much Linda for asking me to document this love filled evening!  Later after the rehearsal, the families had booked a hall at the Gaia Hotel of Anderson, CA to celebrate.

Can’t wait to start editing the wedding!  TOMORROW it begins!

A girl can dream of her special day.  This starts so young!  I had the privilege of working with Ashely of The Flower Pot the other day documenting some senior portrait wreaths she created.  My daughter was anxious to help me in the studio as I took some macro shots of the flowers.  Instantly she began pretending she was a bride.  Speaking of brides, Ashley is available to create one of a kind floral arrangements.  Below I have asked Ashley a ton of questions to help brides out there learn more about floral arrangements for their wedding day down below the portraits.

This was a fun boudoir shoot for me! Robin Fator had sent me the images of her bridal lingerie creations, and I went from there in the set design to emphasize the pampered bridal look. I wanted the scene to be set in an upscale bridal lingerie boutique, full of bridal magazines {thank you Rebekah}, little sweets, and just a ultra feminine dream bride scene. I also used less dramatic light to create a soft airy feel. Krystal our model has the perfect shape for this look, flawless…  She is always open to new modeling opportunities, be sure to contact her!  Thanks Krystal for letting Nikki Gibson create the bomb shell Victoria Secret model look with your hair and makeup. Sara, one of Krystal’s dearest friends who just happens to be a hair stylist herself over at La Ti Da Styling Lounge, also helped create Krystal’s look. I knew I needed some gorgeous little delicate sweets to complete this set, so I hit up one of my very favorite indulgences local to Redding, CA, The SweetSpot. I have to say that the Irish Car-bomb cupcake is my all time fave, maybe tied with their Strawberry Chocolate cupcake…yum, now I want one or ten!

Another huge shout out goes to Ashely Wagner of The Flower Pot here in Redding, CA for her finishing touch to the prefect bridal shop. Her bouquet was a perfect match to the soft color pallet chosen for Krystal’s look. Ashely creates bridal bouquets amongst many other gorgeous creations. She is going to be doing some flower wreaths for two seniors I get to photograph next month! Thank you Ashley for your beautiful one of a kind contribution to the scene! Later this month I will have an entire post dedicated to Ashely and her creations located on my “Tips for the Bride to Be” on my blog.

Robin Fator, again…love your work, so beautiful. I asked Robin to let my readers know what inspired this creation. Robin said, “I was inspired by the pampered bride on her wedding day this ivory lace bustier is hand embellished with ivory pearls. All wedding fantasies need a little illusion, so I created a sheer veil and flower crown to give Krystal that soft feminine look. Bustier, Flower Crown, and Veil by Dark Pony Designs. Jewelry and Styling by Robin Fator. All lingerie is available HERE or for more info darkponydesigns@gmail.com.”

Nikki Gibson is also available for bridal and boudoir styling, I am fortunate to work with her on a regular basis. I actually refer all my senior girls, brides, and boudoir clients to Nikki! To see some of Nikki’s other work please take a look at my boudoir site! Be sure to contact her for your perfect event!

While visiting the Bridal Show this year, one of my very favorite venues was right across from Wedding Coordinator, Gwen Edwardson’s booth, which I was photographing.  She asked me to pop on over to The White House Wedding’s and grab a few images.  Their booth was so crowded, I only managed to grab a few super fast shots.  So, let it be know that the Bridal Show is very very very busy, so plan to dedicate some time to stopping at all the beautiful booths.   Especially booths that are high in demand, such as the beautiful Redding, California wedding venue, The White House.

The White House at Churn Creek Golf Course in Redding offers Shasta County’s perfect spot for your wedding, anniversary, birthday party, corporate dinner, or any other occasion in a beautiful and elegant garden setting. Mature trees and gardens frame the Federal Revivalist style portico providing a spectacular location for any special event. This venue is completely shaded in the late afternoon and offers beautiful night lighting for the evening hours.  I look forward to shooting there this April for Kaitie & Evan’s beautiful wedding coordinated by Gwen.

Having shot a few weddings over at The White House, I have to say it is one of my most favorite venues.  As far as lighting, it is great!  There is always a place to take a gorgeous image.  Also, knowing how Redding is with the hot summer months, this venue is perfect with ample shade.  After I shoot Evan & Kaitie’s wedding this April, I will be sure to link it HERE.  If you are a bride researching gorgeous venues, please please please take a second to see what The White House has to offer.
