Such a stunning bride.  Love this image of her getting ready at her Aunt’s home in the country. There was so much love surrounding Laura and Josh the day they became one.  Thank you so much for letting me document your intimate ceremony.  It was beyond adorable how excited Josh was to marry you, Laura.  He was constantly smiling and so so so happy.  Your family was warm and loving and so eager to see you walk down your Aunt’s steps to the man of your dreams.  I wish you both a long happy marriage.

I love the first and last image.  The first image is just classically beautiful as she looks at herself ready to meet her future husband.  The last image, oh gosh…I don’t know what it is, but her expression is just so strong, makes me think maybe of Frida Kahlo, the artist or some other compelling woman. Laura, I feel like this should be a image passed down for generations, there is just something about you in it that I am seriously in love with.  Josh too has that same look…so interesting to me.

Hair and makeup by the ever so talented Nikki Gibson!  Simply gorgeous as always.

If you would like to view my portrait portfolio you can do so HERE.  Or if you would like to see my most recent work via my blog, you can do that HERE.  Feel free to contact me with any questions.  This was not one of my typical weddings, however, I do really enjoy being booked for 2 hours of coverage to just get the bride getting ready, ceremony, family portraits and of course the couples formal portraits after being wed.

Thank you for choosing me to document your wedding day, I enjoyed my time with you both and your family.

xoxo,
Jamie

To my dearest cousin Jenna and your husband Rene, I wish you both the very best life has to offer together.  Your wedding was so gorgeous, I actually wish I had done a full day of wedding coverage instead of a few hours.  Our families definitely pulled together to create the perfect day for you both.  I couldn’t get over the stage and cross your dad and the uncles built…wow.  The details of your wedding are straight off Pintrest, but better!  From the vintage table settings, which I heard you thrift shopped for some time before the wedding, to the naked cake, to each little sign telling people where to go.  Oh, and your dress…OMG, seriously Jenna…you looked so beautiful!  Rene, I hope you realize what a lucky man you are…of course I am a bit biased perhaps. Gosh, almost forgot about the food…holy cow…some of the best food ever!  Leave it to The Harrell’s and friends to have several types of meat to choose from! Ha!

Also, thank you my dearest daughter Kya for being my second shooter for the day.  I really enjoyed spending the day with you.

xoxo,

Cousin Jamie

Blog in progress.

I was fortunate to be contacted by Dream Platinum a few weeks ago for some beauty portraits in my home studio.  Craig, Angeli, and Jamie collaborated with Marilyn of Simply Elegant Bridal Boutique and myself to create some portraits for the Bridal Show that took place this last weekend.

Oh my goodness!  How much do I adore this bride and groom….soooo much!  Thank you so very very very much Aaron and Sarah for allowing Brian, Vanessa and I to document your perfect wedding day at Ponderosa Ridge Ranch through our lenses.  Aaron and Sarah, you both are so gosh darn perfect for one another.  I saw the way you both looked at each other throughout the entire day, so beautiful to see.  Your friends are just as amazing, so happy and fun!  Your family is warm and accepting, and were so joyful watching the two of you celebrate such a wonderful union.  Isabelle is lucky to have both of you!  I wish you, your family and friends all the best in the world!

Now, this day could not have been created without the so very talented Stacy Schwerdt of Old Beginnings Weddings & Design.  She coordinated the wedding without flaw, loved her touches and all of her friendly staff.  Tyler Faires of Tyler Faires Productions is beyond amazing, loved hanging out with him and his 2nd, Gary.  Not to mention he seriously saved me with his video lights when my flash broke on the concrete floor.  I think it was a blessing in disguise, I will be shooting wedding receptions totally differently because of this experience.  Thank you Tyler for helping me out and being so kind!  Flowers, such an important part of the wedding day were created by Velours Design and they were so delicately perfect.  The food looked so very good, Amy of Bon Appetite Catering was sure to please.  The cake and desserts were created by Cupcakes for the Kingdom, and they to were exceptional.  Unfortunately I did not have time to try one, but my team did and they did have big smiles on their faces.  Speaking of faces, Sarah and her bridesmaids were pampered by Bethany Hill and Rebekah Arndt.  They added that extra bit of gorgeousness to all the girls!  And huge thanks to Jon of Netsound Audio, who kept the party going and fun!  I also owe him a huge thank you since he provided all the beautiful uplighting and photo booth during the reception!  I needed all available light due to my little mishap and between him, Tyler, and my Neewer and Elichrom light sets…Brian and I were able to work with the ambient light!  Thank you sooooo much Jon!  I also wanted to say that Jon was super chill and willing to take requests from the littles at the party!  Huge shout out to my team, thank you so very very much Brian for always being amazingly chill, and amazingly talented!  I love working with you and each time you add something new and fun for my bride and groom.  Vanessa, holy cow friend, you are such an asset!  Thank you for being you and all your hard work, it is not easy carrying all that gear or fixing my gear that I break!

Thank you so very much Robbie and Melissa for letting myself and Brian come to shoot your wedding last weekend!  It was beyond fun and exciting!  Your family and friends are so full of love for you guys and each other!  Some of the moments captured during your wedding are my favorite of all time…they way people look at each other, you can just see the connection!  I wish you and Robbie the very most in life together!  Enjoy your images!

Oh, thought I would mention, this wedding coverage was not the usual wedding coverage.  We decided to shoot for 3.5 hours to begin, though events ran a bit longer…so, we did stay for an extra hour, but I am so happy with what Brian and I covered during that time!  Brian, thank you for being so rad.  So, here is a little quick break down of time spent during the day.  Brian and I got 30 mins with the groom and his men, 30 mins with Melissa, normal ceremony time, family portraits and bridal party portraits took some time…lol, then we only had 5 or so minutes with Robbie and Melissa.  After that dinner was served while Brian and I captured details and set up our lights.  Melissa and Robbie were then able to blaze through the normal post ceremony events, such as toast, cake cutting, first dance, and tosses! 🙂  Oh, and the rooms in the Elk Lodge where everybody got ready did not have a window for natural light…so I broke out the Neewer light and I feel that it was the perfect choice!

A list of all the other people who helped create Robbie and Melissa’s day will be listed soon. 🙂

Thanks again!

Like many couples these days, Jim and Mel wanted a destination wedding without the huge price tag. To add an extra twist, they wanted sneak away and elope. This is where I stepped in. During the initial telephone interview with the bride, Mel expressed their desires to make everything quick and easy by eloping and traveling to Scotland for the honeymoon. They chose Scotland because Jim’s parents’ families are from there. Mel was game for it because who wouldn’t want to see their man in a kilt!

In order to keep things on their schedule, we setup a photo shoot in advance of the elopement and in full dress. Mel had a plan and purchased a high resolution image of a castle they planned to visit while they were in Scotland and gave it to me to play with in photoshop.  So, with the lighting just right that afternoon and a little bit help from Photoshop, I was able to create the first shot of this post!

Mel used that first image from their photo shoot and made it into a postcard. Using the postcard as their announcement that they had gotten married, the new Mr. & Mrs. mailed the postcards out to family and friends while they travelled through Scotland. This way, the families had a postmark and an explanation. Easy, sweet, no hassles!

As proof they actually made it to the castle in the postcard picture, Jim and Mel sent me the actual picture of the two of them in front of Eilean Donan Castle, which I have included under the postcard portrait.  I also included the images we used to create the postcard…fun stuff!

Some other information about their “destination wedding” As a child, Jim’s mother used to be a sword dancer in the Scottish Highland games. Naturally, they used the tartan of his mother’s family, which is Royal Stewart. The sword in the picture is the actual sword that Jim’s mother used while dancing as a Highland sword dancer. Mel upcycled her dress and designed and sewed the tartan sash she’s wearing.

Love the creativity of my peeps!  Thank you so much Jim and Mel for showing me such a cool new location and congratulations on your union as one!

Jarin and Katie, loved your wedding in Fort Jones!  Gorgeous…love weddings that are held at a special place, such as your parents house!  Your family,  your friends, everybody was so kind and happy.  The two of you are so perfect together, Katie, you absolutely light up when you look at your man.  The moments shared between your mom and you were so touching…so special, I can’t wait to do the same for my daughters one day.

I should write more….but I have been working on this blog post WAY too long and need to move away from the computer!  Lol!  I will later though!

More info coming soon as far as everybody involved to create such an awesome day!  I can say that the food was the BEST we have ever had at a wedding and the cake…holy cow…delish!

Thank you so much Amy, my 2nd for the day and Lee, my trusty friend and assist for the day.
