Thank you so much Michale, Jaye Jaye, Bishop and Carter for letting me take your portraits last week.  Really loved how the shoot was style along side the industrial look of Gerlinger Steel of Redding, CA.  I was sure to ask permission before shooting on Gerlinger’s property and was thankful when told I could, as long as no employees were working.  Our shoot happened to be on a Saturday, so we were in luck!

Also, thank you to my assistants for the day, Layne and Kya.  Kya was asked to created a little promo video, which I really loved.  Layne was out there in the heat reflecting, and scriming away.  It is nice to work with a team, makes it so much easier for me and better for my clients completed images.

Jaye Jaye, thank you for being so sweet and gotta say….those eyes!  Stunning!  Loved your Gucci sunglasses by the way, even though they covered those eyes!   That adorable black dainty dress that was paired perfectly with your Doc Martins…a girl after my heart! Love Love Love combat boots!  I have been wearing my Sutro boots for 3 years solid now and love the worn in feel!  Also, all of your boys are VERY handsome and made the shoot a lot of fun to capture.  The connection between you and your hubby is unreal.  Loved the way you both looked at one another.  I also loved that you both were down to play out the ‘slide down the body’ scene from Dirty Dancing!  Hope you enjoy your family pictures.

xoxo,

Jamie

So, I recently learned about National Grandparents Day, which is every Sunday after Labor Day.  This year, National Grandparents Day will be on September 10th, 2017.  The idea behind this special day is to create time for grandparents and/or older adults share their sage advice with our youth.  While, their littles are asked to serve or do something really special for their grandparents.  A win win situation, if I do say so myself. An added bonus too, there is actual science based statistics with regard to grandparents enjoying time with their grandchildren, and how this can help with lowering the risk for Alzheimer’s.

Having said all of that above, please take a look at THIS super sweet family portrait shoot I did with Rob, Liz, and Avery.  Rob and Liz had invited their parents along to get some adorable shots with their little angel, Avery.  I thought this was such a gorgeous shoot, had to share it again.  I do feel these images of Avery with her grandparent’s will be treasured for many years.  Personally, I have an image of my Grandpa McCarthy holding me when I was just five days old.  This image two of us together and is especially cherished by me.  So, glad that someone took it.  I took a shot with my cell phone and placed at the bottom of this post.

Each Sunday we spend over at my in-laws and this Sunday I am bringing my camera.  The relationship my girls share with their Nonnie and Papa is so special.  I am thinking I will take the portrait while they are doing something they enjoy together, so that they can look back and remember that particular memory.  My youngest loves to play with her stuffed animals with Papa, so thinking this is a must have image.  Kya, my oldest, she and Nonnie like to pamper each other with facial masks and manicures, which would be a fun photograph for the two of them to share.

Below I have added some of my favorite portraits of grandparents with their beautiful grandchildren.  The love shared is so special and I am glad I was able to capture these moments together for them.  The top image might be my favorite and is so sweet, this little girl was about to leave the country, and you can just feel the love in that hug.  Really, they are all pretty darn cute. Real emotion…which is what I love to capture.

Have anything special planned for your grandparents?  Schedule your shoot with or for the special grandparents in your child’s life

My Grandpa McCarthy.  As I am writing this I am actually tearing up again seeing that smile of his.  I miss him so much. Thank you so much Mom for taking this portrait.

So, I am seriously behind on featuring this family, like maybe close to a year behind!  I am so sorry Staci!  I was looking through old files and saw this and checked, and sure enough…not blogged.  I am beyond sorry.

I now am so curious what your little man looks like these days!  His eyes, those perfect wide eyes, I am sure he is a handsome little guy.

Anyhow, thank you so much for allowing me to take your family portraits about a year ago in Brandon and Jennifer’s meadow.  Your family was very sweet and gentle.

Okay, really this is my favorite of the year so far.  So many reasons why, and I have some time right now to share!

To begin, I love where we live, we are so lucky to have such beauty all around us all the time, such as Whiskeytown.  Now, that I have said this…I do want to mention that I am going to begin going to the City Council Meetings starting ASAP.  I would like to protect what we have here in Northern California, lately the creeper status has been off the charts!  I personally feel like it is time for the residents of Redding, CA and surrounding areas to get involved.  It would be great if you happen to be a local and feel the same way, to join me.

Now, back to the family portrait shoot!

Amanda did such a wonderful job styling this shoot!  The clothing is spot on!  She even had to break out need and thread to create this perfect look!  She even paired her clothing with Dark Pony Designs jewelry.  There were so many great images from her session that I feel in love with that I had a difficult time choosing what to share on the portrait blog.  Another thing I so loved about this family session would be the love shared between their family, so much love!

Thank you so much Jake and Amanda for sticking with me after all these years!!!

Jamie

Oh my goodness, this field is beyond perfection.  Seriously, we walked back there and there were like 30 to 40 black butterflies just enjoying the sweet pollen of the star thistle plants.  I would say this meadow is my all time favorite now.  However, I think it was just a good year for it with all the rain we had!  I will have to go back next year around that time to see!!!!  You should of seen the kids enjoy the butterflies!  It was actually magical!

Thank you so much you guys for letting me take your portraits!  This was a special shoot since Krystal is a mother of two and happens to work for the company Dignity Health.  I have been fortunate enough to be allowed to work on a few of Dignity’s campaigns!  Including this one, their Mothers of Dignity Campaign for Mothers Day.  I haven’t shared much of this yet, just because I have been busy and not blogging!

With the Mothers Day Campaign image taken with Krystal and her two lovely children, we decided to take a few others for fun on our own, and that is what I am sharing below.  How could I not resist taking a few pictures with a gorgeous family in a magical butterfly filled meadow…just can’t!  It was so fun, thanks again West Family!

Also, a little update… currently I have a billboard up on East Cypress near the old Raley’s for Dignity Health’s Ortho department!  Both sides and it is huge!  Really, I should go take a picture of it, since it is a big deal for me…first billboard!  You can watch my little video over on IG if you want HERE to see it!

Anyhow, I am so extremely grateful for the amazing people in the marketing department over at Dignity who gave me a chance, and you guys know who you are! (Amy and Monique)  Really, this is getting me closer to my end goals with photography.  Not that I want to give up the portraits that I do weekly, which I do love.  Commercial and eventually fashion photography is where I would like to be in the future after my littles have left the nest!  So, thank you ladies and Dignity Health for helping another mother get to fulfill her dreams.  To see the image Dignity Health chose, please scroll to the bottom of this post!

Human Kindness. 🙂

Such a gorgeous family, and the color coordination for their outfits were spot on!  Nice work Michelle!  Thank you Jim and Michelle for allowing me to take your family portraits near the Turtle Bay Arboretum in Redding, CA.  We were the very last people to get to play in the tall grasses before the McConnel Foundation mowed it down for the summer.  Loved all your images!  Here are the ones you selected to hang on your walls at home.

Thank you so very much Reesha for making the trip from Junction City to allow me to take your maternity portraits in our gorgeous forest located in Whiskeytown National Recreation Area of California.  Also, loved the stunning wreath you purchased from Anderson Florist, a suggestion I made in another blog post some time back.  Have to say, these little touches do make all the difference in the world for your images.  The burgundy dress is one of mine that I bring for my maternity sessions, and it looked so beautiful on you, the wreath matched so perfectly.  However, I was in LOVE with your Free People white lace dress you purchased just for this shoot.  Free People happens to be one of my very favorite brands ever.  Your geometric tattoos also added such a great vibe to your images, so happy you were my subject for the evening!

We decided to do the forest, lake, and then a meadow with Reesha, her man Matthew and handsome son, Phoenix.  We stumbled upon a brand new meadow for me that had such a magical little clearing, perfect for the remainder of our shoot together.  Phoenix is such a loved little boy, it was so apparent as I took your pictures.  Those little in-between moments were the ones I liked the most.  Matthew, the love you show for you family really was so sweet to capture, they are so lucky.

Congratulations on your newest addition to soon be here!  I hope that your labor is calm and peaceful with your doula.

What a good looking family…wow!  Thank you guys for tracking through the creek, the weeds, and all the fun conversation.  Great job Amanda on styling for your family portrait shoot, loved the tones you picked.  I am so excited the sun is going to be present this week, I miss these gorgeous days!  Even though, it was a super cold day during our shoot! Again, thank you so much for choosing me!
